Contract Instructional Design Consultants

Description

We seek contract instructional designers to help us create world-class training and training support tools for our clients. Ideal candidates have a combination of skills and abilities in business, journalism, instructional design and technology. This means they can speak the language of business, pick up the phone and call someone to get answers to questions, write well, think clearly, and use software applications to communicate with us and design damn good instructional materials and performance support tools. Examples of our current clients and the types of businesses we work with include companies in the following sectors: enterprise software, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, bio-tech, hospitality, and food and beverage.

Requirements

Education

    • College degree – ideally a Masters degree – with focus in instructional design and/or organizational development

Experience

    • At least two years designing and developing instructional programs or systems
    • Additional ideal experience includes (six months or more in):
      • Business sales
      • One or more of our key industries (e.g., healthcare/bio-tech, energy, hospitality/wine)
      • Designing, developing, facilitating and/or producing live-virtual events (e.g., webinars, vILT)
      • Designing and developing instructional games
      • Creating eLearning modules (i.e., using Captivate or Articulate products or similar tools)

Principal Duties, Responsibilities

Analysis

    • Analyze requirements for performance improvement and instructional projects
    • Familiarity with and practical experience using analysis techniques from industry experts such as Mager, Harless, Rossett, Thiagi and/or Stolovich

Consulting

    • Consult with clients regarding both training and non-training (e.g., job-aids, multi-media, coaching, EPSS) solutions to their performance problems
    • Speak with clients and potential clients in the “language of business” — with a focus on helping them achieve business results (e.g., sales, cost-savings, safety, revenue, profit, customer satisfaction, market share, etc.) — not just the language of training or instruction

Project Management

    • Manage projects, at least small- to mid-sized projects
    • Communicate with PPG project leaders clearly and regularly about progress toward milestones

Design

    • Design instructional systems and tools for smart and motivated adults
    • Keep your finger on the pulse of current, effective design trends; discuss these in layman’s terms with clients and PPG staff, and implement them as appropriate to the projects on which you work

Development

    • Develop training and tools that support training -OR- work closely with our developers (who may have technical skills but not instructional design skills) to bring your designs into form

Implementation

    • Assist clients with the implementation of training and support tools
    • Work with clients to prepare for and rollout training/instructional systems
    • Post eLearning modules to learning management systems (LMSs) -OR- wor with LMS administrators to post and test eLearning programs on LMSs

Evaluation

    • Plan and perform formative and summative evaluation activities as needed
    • Communicate results of evaluations clearly and succinctly to client and PPG

Document Management

    • Create and maintain documentation associated with training projects in our O365/SharePoint system

Location, Travel

    • Ideal candidates are located within driving distance of Santa Rosa, CA
    • All candidates (but especially non-Bay Area candidates) must have excellent virtual-worker skills

Instructional Design

    • Able to create basic flowcharts to depict task flows, processes, and/or flow of instructional modules or curricula
    • Able to perform all basic tasks of instructional design and development, including development of criterion tests and relevant practice activities, derivation of content, selection of delivery system(s), drafting of modules, tryouts and sequencing

Software, Computer

    • Able to create instructional modules in Articulate Presenter or Storyline, Captivate and/or Camtasia (this includes owning the applications)
    • Able to use an O365/SharePoint for planning and document management
    • Proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, etc.), and cloud-based tools (Sharepoint, BaseCamp, Dropbox)
    • Able to learn and adapt to new software technologies
    • Strong working knowledge of PC-based Internet and software applications
    • Basic knowledge and proficiency with learning management systems (LMSs)

Lead Generation Contractor

Description

We are seeking a sales support contractor to help us contact and develop relationships with leads in our database. This person would help us determine whether or not these leads have current/active workforce performance improvement, training and/or training support needs that PPG can fill. Examples of our current clients and the types of businesses you will build relationships with include companies in the following sectors: enterprise software, energy, pharmaceuticals, bio-tech, hospitality, and food and beverage.

Requirements

Education

    • College degree – ideally w/ a focus in business administration and/or communication

Experience

    • Acceptable experiences are (six months or more):
      • Business sales experience
      • Telesales or tele-customer-service experience
      • Summer internship communicating with business customers

Principal Duties, Responsibilities

    • Make calls
    • Qualify potential customers by asking questions about business needs related to workforce performance improvement, training, and training support
    • Speak about/discuss PPG’s capabilities, projects, experience
    • Schedule and attend meetings (including virtual meetings)
    • Manage CRM database
    • Run reports from CRM
    • Review reports from CRM in order to locate ideal sales targets

Location, Travel

    • Ideally candidate is located within driving distance of Santa Rosa
    • Some travel may be required to client sites (typically North Bay, Bay Area)
